ORC Partners

The Ohio Resource Center is, in part, significant because it represents the collaborative effort and vision of many individuals and organizations. ORC gratefully acknowledges the Partners, Contributors, Participants, and Aligned Efforts that have made this website possible.

Partners

The Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Reading, and Science is a virtual, collaborative organization. Its success is dependent on the involvement and support of education stakeholders across Ohio.

Primary funding for ORC comes via the Ohio Board of Regents (http://regents.ohio.gov/). The Ohio Resource Center had its beginning as a funded project of the Regents and represents a linked network of two- and four-year public and private institutions of higher education. It brings the combined intellectual, research, technology, and resource delivery capacity of higher education to bear on the mathematics, science, and reading needs in Ohio. The Ohio Board of Regents is presently funding ORC's work with technology-integrated instruction for teacher candidates through Catalyst Ohio Resources (COR).

ORC is located on the campus of The Ohio State University and is affiliated with the College of Education and Human Ecology at OSU. The State University Education Deans' original vision was that ORC maintain a strong connection with the resources offered by higher education while serving the needs of the preK–12 community.

The staff of ORC and the staff of the Ohio Department of Education (http://www.ode.state.oh.us) collaborate on a variety of curricular and instructional initiatives that are mutually beneficial to the work of each organization and to educators across the state. This valued collaboration provides a unique and crucial kind of support for ORC. Presently, the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education in the Department provides funding to ORC to support teachers of career-technical students as they implement Ohio's academic content standards through the Department's Standards First Project and the Ohio Pathways Project. In addition, the Office of Literacy in the Department provides funding for the adolescent literacy project, AdLIT—Advancing Adolescent Literacy Instruction Together. This project addresses the unique literacy needs of adolescent learners by promoting and supporting effective, evidence-based practices for classroom instruction and professional development. The Office of Early Learning and School Readiness in the Department provides funding for the early childhood project, REC—Resources for Early Childhood. REC addresses Ohio's Early Learning Standards.

The Office of the Governor (http://www.state.oh.us), the State University Education Deans, and the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University work with ORC to improve teaching and learning in Ohio's preK–16 classrooms. In addition, ORC is fortunate to work with a variety of other entities from across the state. These partners are listed below under Contributors, Participants, or Aligned Efforts. ORC is grateful for the working relationship it has with each organization.
