Personal information ORC collects
ORC does not sell or share personal information of users with anyone outside of ORC and its subcontractors, UNLESS REQUIRED BY LAW.
When you register for services of ORC, we provide options for you to volunteer
additional information about yourself and your role in education. This
information is used to improve our products and services and is only analyzed
in the aggregate. While we appreciate having this type of information to better
serve all of our users, you are under no obligation to provide it.
ORC provides several opportunities for users to contact us through email or
web-based forms. We use the personal information you provide only as it relates
to answering your question. Records of how many people contact us per month are
kept; however, individual information is not kept nor shared in
any reporting process. If you are a registered user of ORC's website, you will
be able to log in with your username and password to view and change personal
information about yourself. ORC will make every effort to preserve your privacy
and security by verifying your identity when you use our system. You may
contact ORC at any time to request that your personal information be removed

ORC offers community areas (discussion areas and blogs) that are on our site or are linked from our site. Please be
aware that any information you disclose in these areas becomes public
information; use caution when disclosing personal information on any website, including that of ORC.
Nonpersonal information collected by the ORC web system
Our web servers automatically record general information on all users who browse the content of the site. These data collection systems gather:
- Your IP address
- The Internet domain for your Internet service, such as company.com or school.edu
- The type and version of the browser you are using to access ohiorc.org (such as Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 3.5)
- The type and version of the operating system you use (such as Macintosh or Windows)
- The address of the previous site you were visiting, if you linked to ohiorc.org from another site
- The pages you visit on ORC and the files you download
- The date, time, duration of your visit, and the number of visits
The data are periodically summarized and analyzed to study site usage over time
to help us improve the site's organization, performance, and usefulness. This
information is only examined in the aggregate, not at the individual level.
Cookies
Some of ORC's web pages use cookies, to help you better use our site. Cookies
are text files we place in your computer's browser to store your preferences.
The cookies do not collect any personally identifiable information, such as
your email address, unless you have already chosen to volunteer that
information to us in some way. If you choose to register with ORC, your
personal information may be linked to the information stored in the cookie. We
use cookies to improve your experience on the site and to understand how
different features are used by visitors.
Collecting information from minors
ORC's target audience is teachers, administrators, service providers, higher
education faculty members, and policy makers. For this reason, students under
the age of 18 may not register. Some information may be of use to students,
particularly educational web links. Access to these resources does not require
registration or the exchange of personal information. Minors occasionally send
email requesting homework assistance; because this is not a service provided by
ORC, those messages are responded to and discarded. In any event, personal
information about any users, whether adult or minor, is not shared or sold to
others, UNLESS REQUIRED BY LAW.
Links to other sites
Our policy details the privacy practices for the ORC website. ORC provides links
to hundreds of other websites. The ORC privacy policy and procedures do not
apply to these external links. You will be notified when you leave the ORC
site. The sites you will be visiting may send their own cookies to users,
collect data, or solicit personal information. You are encouraged to read the
privacy policies of any site you visit.

maintained by the Ohio Resource Center for Mathematics, Science and Reading

website is held by The Ohio State University for the benefit of ORC. However,
since ORC is funded by the State of Ohio, the state has the right to use the
materials as it deems appropriate, and ORC will routinely grant permission for
