This classroom vignette details the essentials for integrating technology. Mary Crabtree, technology resource coordinator at Buckeye Local Schools in Medina, Ohio, begins by sharing that "integation of technology . . .occurs most effectively when it is well planned and when the technology is used to enrich the content. If technology is used simply to "teach technology," then the integration is much less effective and the skills gained are less likely to be transferred to other areas of learning." The rest of the article contains helpful tips for integrating technology: (1) from Ohio's standards to "post-lesson;" (2) focus on knowledge creation; (3) don't go it alone; (4) approach teaching from a constructivist point of view; (5) partner up--students; (6) partner up--teachers; (7) fear not; and (8) always have a plan "B." Crabtree includes web resources and ideas for lesson plans, technology research links, and training in technology for teachers and students. (author/ebm)
