Use this online concept mapping tool with preservice and practicing teachers to demonstrate how technology can be used to assess a student's developmental understanding of concepts. Seeing Reason can be used for demonstrating cause-and-effect relationships, helping students analyze complex systems, communicating understanding visually, and promoting collaborative work.

Blogger
Use this online communication tool to facilitate discussion of topics between class meetings or professional development sessions. Weblogs (blogs) can be used as a form of online journal or portfolio. The weblog can be used as a formative or summative assessment tool.

In this activity, participants review and then evaluate a model technology-integrated lesson using a detailed rubric that considers the teaching strategies, standards alignment, and effectiveness of the technology integration.

These modules explore a variety of topics related to assessment. They can be used as is or bits and pieces of the modules can be incorporated into teacher education courses or professional development programs.

Instructional Module: Assessment
The assessment module is a two-part module designed for a two- to three-hour class or session. Part One, Guided Process, is designed to give participants a brief introduction to assessment. Part Two, Group Participation, assigns readings and activities for experiential, project-based learning.
