Highlighted COR Lessons
Each of these highlighted COR lessons supports various principles of learning
and demonstrates instructional strategies important in technology integration.
Mathematics
Developing Geometric Understandings
and Spatial Skills Through Tangram Puzzles
Elementary students build on their previous experiences with puzzles in this
geometry activity. Students develop their spatial memory and spatial
visualization skills to recognize and apply transformations, and to become more
precise in their use of vocabulary about space as they work in teams to solve
online tangram puzzles.
Getting Out of Line
High school students investigate various patterns and models using the graphing
calculator. Students work collaboratively to complete experiments and then
report their results to the class.

Science
Germs and the Body
Elementary and middle school students engage in fun online activities as they
learn about microbes and how the body protects itself against them.
Of Light and Lenses
Elementary students take on the role of an Olympic Downhill Ski Team Trainer as
they research light and its properties online and conduct off-line experiments.
They then work with the other trainers to create a Ski Team Safety Manual based
upon their findings.

Let's Build a Snowman
Elementary school students investigate how animals get food during the winter
months. The extension that suggests building snowmen or feeders to feed local
wildlife could easily be developed into an interdisciplinary project-based
lesson incorporating science and reading.
Murder and Mayhem: The Great
Gatsby: The Facts Behind the Fiction
High school students access and examine primary source artifacts as they
explore life in the 1920s. They then work in teams to write an eight-page
literary newspaper.
