How to Use This Book

Highlights and Insights

  • The manner in which facts about tetrahedrons are presented in this book is definitely not that of a typical textbook. The informal, conversational style may pique the interest of students who are not ordinarily interested in textbook mathematics.
  • A tetrahedron pattern (net) and directions for construction are included.
  • Questions under "Reader's Guide" go beyond mathematics to probe student feelings and reactions.
  • The story reads easily and, because it is a true story, is very inspiring.
  • There are also a lot of little problems to solve as the story goes along, thus keeping students continually engaged in mathematics.
  • There are sketches on some pages that support the ideas of the book. It would have been nice to have a picture of what the tetrahedron looked like in the real life version.
