The Ohio Resource Center (ORC) is offering a professional development program that focuses on the use of inquiry challenges to investigate real-world essential questions. Inquiry challenges provide students with opportunities to investigate standards-based scientific concepts through extended inquiry. Participants will:
  • explore how inquiry fosters the development of 21st century skills
  • experience an inquiry challenge
  • learn strategies for managing inquiry challenges in the classroom
  • learn about essential and critical questions
  • work in teams to develop an inquiry challenge
  • examine inquiry and the learning cycle through the lens of an inquiry challenge
  • discuss formative and summative assessment of an inquiry challenge
  • learn about ORC’s science features
What: A 3-day professional development institute.
Who: Middle and high school science teachers
