The Ohio Resource Center (ORC) is offering a professional development program that focuses on
the use of inquiry challenges to investigate real-world essential questions.
Inquiry challenges provide students with opportunities to investigate
standards-based scientific concepts through extended inquiry.
Participants will:
- explore how inquiry fosters the development of 21st century skills
- experience an inquiry challenge
- learn strategies for managing inquiry challenges in the classroom
- learn about essential and critical questions
- work in teams to develop an inquiry challenge
- examine inquiry and the learning cycle through the lens of an inquiry challenge
- discuss formative and summative assessment of an inquiry challenge
- learn about ORC’s science features
What: A 3-day professional development institute.
Who: Middle and high school science teachers
When and Where (All institutes will meet from 9:00 to 4:00 each day of the institute.)
