Informal Reading Assessments: Examples
PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

This resource offers examples of seven informal reading assessments that are designed for one-on-one administration with young children in the classroom. The brief assessments include: concepts of print, rhyming, identifying initial sounds, blending words, phoneme segmentation, phoneme manipulation, and phoneme deletion. Six of the seven assessments are tasks that assess phonemic awareness. Teacher directions and assessment forms are also included. (author/jlkrause)
