PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

This lesson capitalizes on students' interest in sports to integrate instruction on fractions, decimals, percents, rounding, Cartesian coordinates, probability, and statistics. Students create their own game board using baseball card statistics and then play a simulated baseball game. The game board worksheet, suggested enhancements, and Internet extensions are included. This lesson is based on an article that appeared in the May 1996 issue of Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School. (author/sw)
