A variety of scenarios, which represents specific issues and challenges that children face when they surf the World Wide Web, are used as springboards to promote critical thinking about online privacy, online marketing, responsible Internet use, and authenticating online resources and Internet safety.
Links embedded in the teacher's guide access lesson plans and simulated online activities. Students go on a cyber tour to learn more about the Internet and then take an interactive quiz to test their Internet expertise. As students visit each of the simulated web sites, they are asked whether wise decisions are being made. Students record their answers in media journals and compare them with classmates after viewing each of the Web scenarios. (author/ncl)

Internet surfing has become much more than a casual diversion. Career-technical students in all fields are expected to be familiar with the Internet, its search capabilities, and content.
Internet surfing has become much more than a casual diversion. Career-technical students in all fields are expected to be familiar with the Internet, its search capabilities, and content. However, as they spend more and more time on-line, they will be subject to more and more of the traps that are set for the unwary. This wonderful resource can be used both to inoculate adolescent users against the viruses that the internet offers, and to teach those who would use the internet to develop marketing and public relations strategies which are effective and ethical.
