Professional Commentary

The Ohio Department of Education offers this lesson plan on Ohio inventors. The motivational quotes at the beginning of the lesson may be difficult for students to understand without extensive explanation. Teachers will also need to collect images of inventions prior to instruction. The lesson encourages students to reflect on the significance of the invention as it contributed to the growth of the nation. The final presentation is critical to the lesson. The design of this lesson follows the research of Robert Marzano, including suggestions for differentiated instruction. In addition, suggestions for technology integration are provided.
