What are Trilobites?
PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

This excellent resource on Trilobites, the most diverse group of extinct animals preserved in the fossil record, was selected as a content resource because it provides extensive background information, including information on ecology, body parts, feeding habits, and classification. The Trilobite is Ohio's state fossil (see more here). Also included are summary fact sheets with detailed line drawings, a gallery of digital images of Trilobite specimen, and a bibliography of related links. The links are organized as retail sites or educational sites. The animation of Trilobite locomotion may be used to compare to locomotion of other arthropods such as isopods (pillbugs, sow bugs). For more information about using isopods in the classroom, visit this site.
