PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

Children thrive in an environment where they are active participants in their learning. In this kindergarten activity, the children listen to a read aloud of My Teacher's Secret Life, discuss the content, and make predictions about what the teacher and their peers do when they are away from school. Students respond to the text by creating their own "secret life" books based on their interests and hobbies outside of school. This activity allows teacher to connect with families and discover who their students are outside of school. (author/ncl)
