PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

Ohio Scientific Education & Research Association (OSERA) web page is designed to help teachers and students better understand the topic of the humane and responsible use of animals in scientific endeavors. This resource contains useful information on the humane and ethical uses of animals in research, scientific methods for developing safe consumer products, and human anatomy and physiology. OSERA provides a number of outreach services to Ohio residents. Their Speakers Bureau is available for school presentations. Ohio teachers may borrow videos or purchase educational materials from OSERA. (KCT)

CAREER APPLICATION

Students in the Agricultural and Environmental career field pathway for Animal Science and Management will find the information on this site helpful in understanding the humane and responsible use of animals in research and production endeavors. Students planning for careers at pet shops, zoos ,or facilities that raise animals will find the site full of useful information about the humane and ethical treatment of animals. Students that participate in FFA Animal Care Career Development events can use the information to prepare. Teachers in the Health Science career field will find good resources related to the use and treatment of animals in medical research.
