PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

The nine digital videos provided here were produced for the textbook Teaching Science for All Children by Ralph Martin, Colleen Sexton, and Jack Gerlovich. Videos feature goggles, alcohol burners, fire blankets, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, electrical safety, hot plates, field trips and first aid kits. This resource helps teachers identify the need for science safety, legal responsibilities for science safety, and proven types of safety equipment. Proper storage and dispensing procedures are discussed. Web links, a concept map, additional readings and a PowerPoint are included. Authors Ralph Martin and Colleen Sexton are professors at Ohio University, and Dr. Martin serves as the Ohio Resource Center Science Content Committee Chairperson.(kct)
