Professional Commentary

In this lesson, students analyze how a character's personality traits, actions and motives influence the plot of a story. Students learn to recognize emotions and feelings that are being displayed by a character. They examine the characteristics of dynamic characters and learn how to appropiately act out certain types of characters by using their face, body, and voice, as well as the five senses, to enhance the telling of a story. Students are engaged in listening and retelling stories focused on characterization. The activities in this lesson will appeal to kinesthetic learners and may be adapted to match various learning styles.(author/mcg/ncl/pc)
