Making Connections with Literature
PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

This content resource, a short article by Ohio teacher Mary Boyle (Bridgetown Middle School, Cincinnati), shares ideas to stimulate students' thinking and writing about S. E. Hinton's "The Outsiders." The ideas are at once easily accessible for classroom teachers and include thoughtful ways to get students involved in discussing and writing about the literary element of theme. The author has created ten fun writing activities for middle school students. (author/ebm)
