Two-Point Perspective Drawing
Promising Practice
PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

Students use interactive geometry exploration software (GES) to create a two-point perspective drawing. Students explore geometric transformations of the model of a rectangular prism viewed from different perspectives. A 9-page activity sheet, discussion questions, lesson extensions, and suggestions for assessment are included. (author/sw)

CAREER APPLICATION

With this lesson, students use interactive geometry exploration software to create a two-point perspective drawing. Students apply basic geometry concepts to model a rectangular box viewed from different perspectives. The teacher can use the suggested discussion questions develop student understanding of the related mathematics. With some modifications, the lesson could be used in various career-technical courses involving CAD, carpentry, machining, or welding. Student activity sheets, discussion questions, and possible applications to art and architecture are included. (jrs)
