National Oceanographic Data Center
PROFESSIONAL COMMENTARY

The National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) archives and provides public access to global oceanographic and coastal data, products, and information. Data types include biological, buoy, chlorophyll, nutrients, ocean currents, oxygen, plankton, profile, salinity, satellite, sea level, temperature, and waves. The site includes the WODSelect (World Ocean Database Select and Search system) that allows the user to search with user-specified search criteria. Teachers and/or students can use this tool to compile customized sets of data that can be incorporated into middle and high school earth science investigations. (author/ts)
