Critical Questions

Unit Description

In this unit, students will explore how a promotional ad package works by conducting research and developing marketing materials for a department at their school or college. Students will collect, evaluate, and organize researched information, identify target audiences, create budgets, analyze the effectiveness of advertising media, and prepare graphics, layouts, and printed materials.

In addition to conducting research and creating materials, the students will test-market their projects, accept critiques, and make appropriate revisions. The students will need to provide a strong rationale for their solutions to the unit’s challenge, and will present their ideas through an oral/visual presentation.

This unit could also provide opportunities for collaboration between marketing and graphic design students and their associated academic instructors.
